Rental Terms

SweetFly Shop is a service of Sweet Flypaper of Film. Last updated: October 2026.

1. Who can rent

Renters must be 18 or older and verify their identity with a valid government photo ID (driver’s license, state ID or passport) before pickup. The name on your booking must match your ID. Identity checks are handled by Stripe; we receive the result, not a copy of your ID. Bring the same ID to pickup.

2. Requesting, pricing and payment

A rental day runs from noon to noon. Pick up after 12 PM on your pickup date and return before 12 PM on your return date: pickup Monday and return Tuesday is one day. Package rates cap at the weekly price shown. Submitting a booking is a request. Your card is authorized through Stripe for the full amount, including the refundable deposit, but not charged. We confirm that the gear is available for your dates, usually within 24 hours, and then charge the card. If we can’t confirm, or don’t respond within 7 days, the hold is released and you pay nothing. If only part of your request is available (for example fewer days), we may send you an amended order to accept or decline, and we only charge the amended total.

3. Security deposit

The deposit is charged with your booking, is not taxed, and is refunded to your original payment method after the gear is returned and checked, normally within 3 business days. We may keep all or part of it for damage, missing parts, cleaning, an unfilled generator or late return, and we will tell you why. If the cost exceeds the deposit, you are responsible for the difference.

4. Insurance and damage waiver

With insurance. Upload a certificate of insurance covering rented equipment for your full rental dates and naming Sweet Flypaper of Film as additional insured and loss payee. You pay the standard deposit and no waiver fee. You remain responsible for any loss or damage; your deposit is applied first and your insurance covers the rest.

Without insurance. You may add our damage waiver and a larger deposit. The waiver limits your liability for accidental damage to the amount of your deposit. It is not insurance. It does not cover theft, loss, gear left unattended or in an unlocked vehicle, water or fuel damage, negligence, misuse or use outside the equipment’s intended purpose.

Camera, lighting and full packages are available only with a certificate of insurance.

5. Your responsibility for the gear

From pickup until we receive it back, the gear is your responsibility. Inspect it at pickup and tell us right away about anything wrong. Do not sublet, lend, modify or open equipment, and do not take it out of the United States. Report theft or loss to us and the police immediately.

6. Returns and late fees

Return gear clean, complete and on time. Returns after 12 PM on your return date are charged at the daily rate for each extra day. Generators must be returned with a full tank (or with a replacement 20 lb propane cylinder if you used ours), and run only outdoors, never in an enclosed space.

7. Cancellations

Cancel at least 48 hours before pickup for a full refund of the rental, tax and deposit. Cancel within 48 hours and we refund the deposit and the rental less one day’s rate. If you don’t pick up, the deposit is refunded and the rental is not. If we cancel for any reason, you get everything back.

8. Our liability

Gear is provided as is, and we are not liable for lost footage, lost production time or other indirect losses. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the rental.
